It appears that AMD is not yet through with the surprises. A new leak recently surfaced online claiming that the Austin-based semiconductor company is preparing a monster AMD 64 cores and 128 threads threadripper. The monster product is believed to debut in the fourth quarter of 2019.
At present, the company's largest HEDT processor is the W2990X with 32 cores. This is already the highest core HEDT in the market. But, if the latest reports are true, we are yet to see a monstrous AMD 64 cores and 128 threads threadripper soon. The upcoming threadripper is believed to be an ultra-HEDT X599 Threadripper with 64 cores.
According to the report, the Austin-based semicon giant is still considering changing the product name so consumers will not confuse it with that of Intel's. It is worth noting that both Intel and AMD HEDT platforms have similar nomenclature. In addition, AMD is planning to keep the 99 suffixes for AMD 64 cores and 128 threads threadripper.
The AMD 64 cores and 128 threads threadripper will debut on its platform on Q4 2019. This is also the time when motherboards of this caliber begin surfacing from different AIBs. The report also revealed that while the source did not reveal details about the socket, it would be most likely compatible with the TR4 motherboards' socket. For those who already own one, they only need to update their BIOS.
