Since AMD launched its flagship AMD Ryzen 9 3950X, people are talking about its prowess and its capacity to beat Intel Core i9-9980XE in terms of performance. In a Geekbench test it was revealed that the Intel Core i9-9980XE that costs $2000 and has 18 cores was beaten by the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X which costs only $749 and is a couple of cores fewer.

The benchmark result created a fury of speculations online with some disputing the result and several others claiming that Intel was beaten by the cheaper competitor considering the price difference of the two models. The result revealed two score based on the single core and the multiple core performance of the products. AMD Ryzen 9 3950X is also faster than that of Intel's CPU.

But, it is already a given since the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X has a boost frequency of 4.7GHz. Intel Core i9-9980XE can only reach 4.4 GHz for its maximum. Because of its lower boost frequency, the Core i9 is easily beaten by most mainstream CPUs. Since both CPUs are almost the same in IPC performance based on the benchmarks released by AMD, it is obvious that the 3950X will definitely have the lead.

But, the multi-core result of the Geekbench test is a lot difficult to believe. So far, it is not yet known what kind of all-core boost frequencies that AMD has on its AMD Ryzen 9 3950X. What we know so far is that it will be determined by the user's own system's cooling capabilities and power and will be between 3.5 GHz base and 4.7GHz boost frequency.

During the AMD Tech Day in LA, the company overclocked the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X to more than 5GHz utilizing liquid nitrogen. It gives a Cinebench R15 score of 5434. The Intel Core i9-9980Xe only managed 3700 score at stock speed. The result shows that AMD's CPU is 47 percent faster when extremely overclocked.

The result on the Geekbench multi-scores placed AMD result a 42 percent ahead of Intel's CPU. This could be based on the extremely overclocked CPU and not based on the stock speed which most enthusiasts are assuming. These results should be taken with a pinch of salt but if the numbers do not add up take a larger dose. We will give you more updates on the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X as soon as we hear something new.
