Samsung probably had very little choice but just tease the Galaxy Note 10 at this point, given how it's been widely leaked already. The company hasn't really confirmed if the next flagship will indeed be called that, but the revelation of the "Next Galaxy" is just a few weeks away. The invite for the event also reveals how tiny the controversial front camera will be.
Samsung officially announced its latest Unpacked event for August 7 at 4PM ET at the Barclay's Center in Brooklyn, New York. This is where the company will launch the Galaxy Note 10, the most recent in its line of super-sized stylus-equipped smartphones.
In its brief video invite, Samsung featured the business end of an S pen on a plain white background to emphasize the what the star of the August Samsung launch will be. The video invite also confirms a centered hole punch-style display cutout for the next flagship, though we pretty much know about this because of all the leaks. There's a single small camera shown on the invite that stands alone in the center of the frame, which doesn't leave much left to the imagination on what it is or where it could be.
It's safe to say this has got to be Samsung's biggest Galaxy Note introductions yet. According to leaks, the Note 10 will keep the harder-edged design of the Note family but will have the features of the Galaxy S10 like the hole-punch camera. This time, however, it's located at the top center.
The Next Galaxy will also have an in-screen fingerprint reader and will be available in two variants: a 6.3-inch base Note 10 and a nearly 6.8-inch Note 10+ (the larger of which would offer a 5G variant). As for upgrades, the camera will definitely have one or two, and the pen experience is touted to be better.
A caveat to that, however (at least for some people), is that the new models are rumored to be lacking headphone jacks and that only the Note 10+ would have microSD slots. If you're not keen on these features, it wouldn't be a problem. There's going to be an increase in storage, and there's the new Galaxy Buds in place of those features, which could make up for what's lacking.
There could be more surprising news soon, so stay tuned for all the action as we get closer to August 7.
