Huawei is set to release several flagship devices later this year, prompting a lot of fans to ready their pockets and prepare for the official launch date of the Mate 30 5G. There isn't an exact date yet, but the upcoming flagship is set to arrive sometime in December.

That's just for the 5G models, as Huawei provides its custom-made Balong 5000 5G modem separately. But with the Kirin 985 launch, which could happen sooner, there might be some more exciting news up ahead.

A slide shared by Russian publication Hi-tech indicates that the Huawei Mate 30 5G launch could happen in December, along with the Mate 30 Pro, which is expected to have more cameras, a larger screen, and more enhanced features. Huawei has already completed the design work on both the Kirin 985 and Kirin 990, so it's likely that both SoC's will launch ahead of the Mate 30.

Meanwhile, the report also indicates that the Mate X will be launched in September, around the same month when the IFA 2019 trade show takes place. At this trade show, the Chinese behemoth is expected to formally introduce the Kirin 985, providing more details on its efficiency metrics and performance, as well as inform us if the SoC would feature an embedded 5G modem. As most of you know, Huawei develops its standalone Balong 5000 5G modem, so either the latter or the embedded solution in Kirin 985 will be a part of the Mate 30 5G launch.

That being said, we're assuming the 4G variants of the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will arrive much sooner. This would give us time to compare Huawei's devices to the iPhone 22 range, the Pixel 4 family, and the next Samsung Galaxy. We're still waiting on Huawei's confirmation on that.

We're still waiting on the 5G networks, meaning Huawei still has time to make sure that the Mate 30 series is ready for the much-improved connectivity. This could be the reason why the launch of the devices happens a little later. After all, who would want a botched brand because of a less-than-impressive user experience?

The Mate 30 series will be priced higher than its 4G counterparts for sure when they're launched in December. More details will be coming your way in the near future, and hopefully, an official word from Huawei itself.
