The upcoming Pixel flagships have been confirmed to have a square bulge at the back in order to accommodate the cameras, and while the search engine giant is likely to reveal more information, leakers have again gone up ahead of the company to bring us the latest scoop. The leak this time focuses on the Pixel 4 XL renders showing a huge change in design, that is if Google does choose this as the final product.
The most recent leak comes from PriceBaba and OnLeaks, revealing some Pixel 4 XL renders. We're having a hard time dismissing these leaks, considering OnLeaks good track record. It has been revealed that the upcoming phone will have a 6.25-inch display and measures 160.4 x 75.2 x 8.2mm. The square bump on the back reportedly measures 9.3mm thick, which means that the Pixel 4 XL could be quite bigger than its predecessor.
Well, since there seems to be some interest, 1 month after delivering your very first glimpse at the #Pixel4, here comes your very first full look at the #Pixel4XL! 360° video + gorgeous 5K renders + dimensions, on behalf of my Friends @Pricebaba again -> https://t.co/mCQCOp5Pp1 pic.twitter.com/MeAIID0FDz — Steve H.McFly (@OnLeaks) July 8, 2019
The renders also reveal that Google has decided to get rid of the notch, and in place now is quite a bulky top bezel that accommodates the speaker grill and the two front cameras. We have no idea as to what the specs of the from cams are, but it could be a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor, which supposedly helps the Pixel 4 XL with a gesture control system. Another purpose for this feature is to deliver a face unlock feature made possible by the Android 2 beta, which is also reported to be rolled out to Pixel phones this year.
As for the bottom bezel, the size looks like it has been reduced, which is perhaps the reason why the front-facing speaker has been swapped with a bottom-firing speaker. It is now found beside a USB Type-C port on the phone's lower part.
The back part of the Pixel 4 XL has a triple camera array and according to rumors, one of those would be 16MP telephoto lens and another is a ToF sensor. There are rumors though that it could be a wide-angle lens until Google confirms it, this will all remain speculation. Going back to the renders, it appears that the Pixel 4 XL won't sport a rear-mounted scanner.
Could it be that Google will include an in-display fingerprint reader? Perhaps something they will end up embedded in the power button? Only Google can provide the answers for these. For now, we'll continue waiting for the latest Pixel scoop.
