While we have yet to see a commercialized foldable phone, we already know that we will soon have one. Huawei and Samsung already confirmed and announced that they would soon release their versions of the foldable phone. The designs are already radical, but the latest leaked design allegedly applied for patent by Google as its very own Google Foldable Phone is just strangely unique in its own way.
We all know how strange the designs tech giants have for their upcoming foldable phones, but it appears that the search engine simply amps up the weirdness with its very own Google Foldable Phone. The news came straight from the WIPO or World Intellectual Property Office, where Google applied for a patent for its foldable phone at the end of 2018. The patent was published on June 27 and showcases a multiple page foldable display device that can be opened and leafed through like a book.
From the patent, it is interesting to note that the Google Foldable Phone combines several OLED screens through what seems like a spine book cover. It also features several components like a processor, battery, and camera on the rear part. Interestingly, the Google Foldable Phone display panel can be found inside the device and displays the content on both sides. The user can adjust the screens by leafing the pages.

Last May, the search engine giant announced during 2019 I/O Developers Conference that it has been studying folding screens for quite some time and has developed several varieties of prototypes of foldable screen devices. So far, the system compatibility and the functionality of the Google Foldable Phone are not yet known.
The patent application is the only information that we have about the upcoming Google Foldable Phone right now. It could also be the first and the last time that we see and hear about this device since it is just a patent filing. But, it is interesting to see what the engineers of the search engine giant could do about this kind of technology.
According to a Dutch tech news site LetsGoDigital, the multiple pages of the Google Foldable Phone are all display panels that can fold. These panels are on the inside of the patented design, but the description leaves things vague enough that Google can still develop an outside screen. These OLED displays that also look like pages of a book are the features that make this device so unique.
