The NBA free agency is officially over, and some of the most anticipated signings did not go as what many in the league have expected. High profile players such as Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, and Kyrie Irving did not sign with the team they are hugely expected to sign with.
Now that the free agency is over, fans and analysts alike are looking forward to trade deals in the league. One major player that has received quite a lot of trade rumor recently is Kevin Love. While he is still a huge asset for the Cleveland Cavaliers, he might ask for a trade in order to catch another shot for a possible championship run.
Portland Trailblazers
The frontrunner in terms of interest in acquiring Love's talent is the Portland Trailblazers. The team had an impressive playoff run last season, and they may look forward to creating a package deal in order to acquire Love from the Cavs. Should the Blazers be able to land this deal, it will propel the team towards the top half of the Western Conference and may tussle for dominance against the Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Denver Nuggets.
The Trailblazers made quite an interesting decision in acquiring formidable yet inconsistent Hassan Whiteside. Love will fit perfectly for this setup as it will relieve Whiteside of his highly inconsistent offensive duties. Love will also help space out the floor for Whiteside to be able to be dominant under the basket. With top teams splurging on big men for free agency, Love will be a talent that the Trailblazers don't want to miss out.
Dallas Mavericks
The Dallas Mavericks signed a lucrative five-year deal with emerging superstar Kristaps Porzingis worth $158 million is a good sign that the team is committed to the Latvian star. With Luca Doncic widely considered to be the team's go-to point guard, Love is the last piece of the puzzle to create a formidable offensive team.
Both Porzingis and Love can create a dynamic duo that is both long defensively and able to play a stretch offense. By putting Porzingis on the center position, Love will be his perfect power forward partner. This will be an interesting lineup should the Mavs be able to pull the trade.
As for assets, the Mavs have a number of interesting players that will fit with the Cavs' play style. Chief among them are Courtney Lee and Justin Jackson. If that will not be enough, the Mavs can hand over their 2020 first round pick to sweeten the deal.
