The Samsung Galaxy S10 was released earlier this year, and so far, this is the biggest leap that the South Korean tech giant has made when it comes to design since it released the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge in 2015. The Infinity-O display along with the triple rear camera and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor simply make it one of the most advanced smartphones available in the market today. But, if the recent patent sighting is any indication, it appears that Samsung is not yet through and has bigger plans with its upcoming flagship phones in the coming year.
Dutch tech site LetsGoDigital discovered a patent design from Samsung and for this article, let us call the device Samsung Galaxy S11 to avoid confusion. The tech site shared several images of the patent filed in the latter part of 2018, approved last May 2019 and was published on June 24, 2019. The tech site created an image of the device based on the details that appeared on the patent filing of the South Korean tech titan.
The patent could be the Samsung Galaxy S11 or the next flagship smartphone of the South Korean tech giant. Interestingly, the design is a major leap from the usual smartphone designs available in the market today, which is more of an evolution of the problematic Samsung Galaxy Fold. It can be recalled that Samsung initially announced to release the phone on April 2019, but a few months later, nothing is heard of from the company in terms of the device's release window.
As you can see in the mock-up images below the punch hole on the display is of the same size as that of Samsung Galaxy S10+. This could indicate an extra front-facing camera for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S11. Additionally, the hole has also migrated to the center of the display. There is also a triple camera set up at the back part of the device which has now been relocated to the upper right corner.
The noticeably expandable screen will definitely increase the size of the display by 50 percent, but at this point, it is yet unclear how this will function. Should Samsung be able to develop a sturdier display compared to what they have done with the Samsung Galaxy Fold, then the Samsung Galaxy S11 could be the ideal device for those who prefer more display but do not like larger phones. Interestingly, the device seems a contemporary standard phone when its screen is not expanded.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold has failed in this aspect when it reveals a smaller display on the front of the device and an awkward cut-out on its inner display. Again, the image is just a mockup of the patent filed by Samsung, which we call in this article as the Samsung Galaxy S11. Whether this design will have the chance to be commercially produced is still unknown, but more information will surface online if the South Korean tech titan plans to introduce it to the market.
