Previously Fox-owned hit fantasy series, Lucifer, is returning on Netflix with a granted extension. As it happens, the streaming giant and production came into terms to conclude the series in its own way. And instead of having a total of ten episodes for its final run, it will now house a total of 16 episodes, which is said to be just enough to finish the course.

During the pilot run, Lucifer houses a total of 13 episodes. In its third and final run on its former network, Fox, the number of episodes was eventually increased to 26. However, things went south after as Fox canceled the show for good.

This came as a surprise to the fandom as the show is performing well throughout its course. Not to mention, the immediate cancellation came with no explanation. As a result, this caused a huge commotion back in 2018.

But thanks to the fans who are very adamant about receiving a continuation for the show, Netflix picked up Lucifer. And having a total of ten episodes, the fourth season continued its course on the streaming platform.

Upon its arrival on Netflix a few months ago, it received promising remarks and reception from its fans, both old and new. So when the renewal decision came, it did not happen by surprise. But what made the announcement surprising is that the newly commissioned season will already serve as Lucifer's final run.

Originally, Netflix intended to conclude the final season with only ten episodes. But of course, the fans are not happy with the decision and much more with the fact the show is ending. Even so, the streaming platform, along with the production, shared that no campaign or petition now would change the fact that the show is truly heading its imminent end.

Months after the saddening announcement, new details came into light. And according to TV Line, the final season of Lucifer is now extended and will now have a total of 16 episodes once it returns on the platform.

The series creators, Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, shared in an interview recently that they are very thankful as Netflix has allowed them to finish the show in their terms. They also mentioned that the "best is yet to come" as they see the upcoming season would be the best among all the installments.

They further contended that ending the series is imminent. But even so, the fans are largely the ones that need to be thankful for.
