Queen Elizabeth once allowed Kate Middleton to break a royal protocol before she married Prince William. Reports say that Her Majesty lets the now Duchess of Cambridge do something that non-royals cannot do.
Middleton was reportedly given a chance to break a royal protocol by Queen Elizabeth when she visited her at the Balmoral Castle. According to royal expert Kate Nicholl, the Duchess of Cambridge was permitted to breach privacy rules even before she joined the royal family, which reportedly happened in Scotland.
Two years before she married Prince William, Middleton spent some time with the monarch in the state in 2009. Her Majesty reportedly wants the Duchess of Cambridge to feel welcome, so she allowed her to take photographs on the state - something that non-royals weren't allowed to do, according to a report from 9Honey.
In her book Kate: The Future Queen, Nicholl claims Queen Elizabeth had met Middleton only fleetingly at the wedding of Peter and Autumn Phillips. But then, the monarch went out of her way and made her feel welcome by allowing her to take photos at the Balmoral Castle.
The royal expert added Her Majesty doesn't usually let her guard down, especially since she's a woman who has lived her whole life in the public eye. Also, only a few family members and closest friends usually get to see the real Queen.
Nicholl said it was a generous move on the part of Queen Elizabeth and an astute decision, allowing Middleton to break a royal protocol. Moreover, the monarch likely allowed to Duchess to do such a thing as she knows Middleton's relationship with her grandson is becoming very serious.
The Duchess of Cambridge is also an avid photographer, and in fact, she took the official birthday portraits of her three children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis - over the past few years. Queen Elizabeth, on the other hand, often surprised the guests by doing housework while she's at the Balmoral estate.
The monarch reportedly does the washing whenever she's there due to the site's lack of formality. As per royal expert Victoria Arbiter, her royal aide father Dickie has been summoned to help with the washing up. She said her father said "I'll wash, you dry" while his hands immersed in suds.
In another related report, the Duchess of Cambridge reportedly banned her husband from seeing his ex-girlfriend, Jecca Craig. Prince William told Middleton in 2010 he wanted to go to Africa to support the charity of Craig, but the Duchess reportedly didn't allow him to do so.
