Tech giant Microsoft recently released an update for its flagship Windows 10 operating system. With a designation Windows 10 20H1 Preview Build, the update is already available to Insiders who are part of the Fast ring group. The new update, Build 18950, has a number of nifty new features as well as a handful of bug fixes and patches.
While there are a handful of new features and upgrades to the new Windows 10 build, one particular feature has caught the attention of the tech world. Eagle-eyed analysts have noticed quite a number of references to the so-called "Cloud Download" feature. While the feature has not been officially released by Microsoft, many in the tech community were quite excited about this new feature.
Microsoft noted that while this new feature is referenced in the latest build, the feature is still under construction and a developing work in progress. This is a particularly interesting feature for Microsoft. As the tech industry aggressively adopts the cloud platform, Microsoft is putting itself right in the middle of the action with this referenced "Cloud download" feature.
Although Microsoft has been silent about this new feature, there are a number of speculations about how this new cloud feature will function. There are a number of speculations claiming that the new cloud feature will allow users to upload their operating system and have it serve as a backup. This way, users can restore their operating system, a feature that is already rolled out to Apple users.
Aside from this hyped feature, there are also a number of new features that will be coming to the latest build of Windows 10. The latest release fixed the issue regarding the prediction candidate window wherein it cannot be navigated using the Up Arrow key. Improvements with regards to the discoverability of key assignment settings is also part of the build.
The latest build also has a number of patches and bug fixes. Chief among these is the fix for the ctfmon.exe that will sometimes crash when the input mode indicator is the taskbar is changed into Japanese IME.
A fix for the bug wherein the paste clipboard is malfunctioning when using the Bopomofo IME is also part of the new build. The bug that results in the OneNote app acting as if the CTRL key is pressed is also getting a fix in this new build.
The Windows 10 build 20H1 will be properly rolled out within the first half of this year.
