The Golden State Warriors is one of the formidable NBA teams. But, with the injury of Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant moving to Brooklyn Nets, the Warriors have never been so defenseless. The other teams are catching up on the GSW's schemes while their stars are down this upcoming season.
However, the Golden State Warriors have the Championship core that most teams do not have. With Klay Thompson, Steph Curry, and Draymond Green still intact on the team, the Warriors are still a formidable force to beat in the league. And, after inking a $100M extension deal, Draymond Green is the most recent player to be locked-up by the former NBA champion.
When the team successfully secured Steph Curry and Klay Thompson for the next NBA seasons, many analysts were speculating if the team will spend money on Draymond Green, or on another new player. But things change when Kevin Durant went to Brooklyn Nets, and the team wasted no time sharpening its choices. In seven NBA seasons, the Golden State Warriors dominated the league with Green as one of its top defensive players.
He also topped the list of NBA steals in 2017 and won the Defensive Player of the Year during the same season. Draymond Green is 5-times All-NBA Defensive Teams and averages 7 rebounds, 9 points, and almost 5 assists for every game. With the latest move from the Golden State Warriors, it appears that the team is not yet ready to surrender their dominion on the NBA Western Conference so easily to any teams.
Paul George and Kawhi Leonard are teaming up for the Los Angeles Clippers. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are also aspiring to get the championship ring from the Golden State Warriors this coming season. The same goes with the Houston Rockets which recently added Russell Westbrook alongside James Harden.
The Golden State Warriors plans to maintain being competitive despite losing Kevin Durant to Brooklyn Nets. That is the directive from the team's ownership as well as from the front office. Oddsmakers have predicted that the Warriors might end up sixth in the Western Conference after five successive seasons being the Western Conference champions.
Klay Thompson on those who say the Warriors' dynasty is over: "To say the dynasty is over is a little ignorant because I'm going to come back better and even more athletic. It would not be smart to count the Dubs out." pic.twitter.com/BVshD0xzR2 — Chris Montano (@gswchris) August 1, 2019
Klay Thompson, in one of his interviews, said that it is a little bit ignorant to hastily say that the GSW dynasty is over. The NBA star promised that he will come back a better and more athletic player. He added that it would not be smart to omit the Warriors. The Golden State Warriors may still have the talent, but the NBA is becoming a lot different now, and so is the team's roster.
