Manchester are still working out a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen in the last hours before the summer transfer window officially shuts down. The club has already finalized the record-breaking £80m signing of Harry Maguire this week.

Eriksen has been linked with Real Madrid, who was bought from Ajax by Spurs for just £11m back in 2013, but the 13-time European champions now appear more likely to land Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek in their ongoing search for a midfielder.

However, United are reportedly confident of landing the Eriksen deal, despite having only less than two days before the summer transfer window closes.

Several reports have claimed that United is heavily invested in getting Eriksen. The Daily Mail reports that Man Utd is racing against time to sign Eriksen before Thursday's 5pm deadline. According to the paper, the Dane is on "top of United's list."

Meanwhile, AS claims that Eriksen had been offered by United a five-year contract. He's earnings will be comparable to Paul Pogba's salary at Old Trafford, according to the report. There are different versions of reports concerning the Eriksen deal, but one thing is for sure: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is definitely interested in him and is eager to seal the deal as soon as possible.

Perhaps United's biggest challenge has nothing to do with Eriksen himself, but with Tottenham. According to the Daily Mirror, chairman Daniel Levy is demanding as much as £130 million if the club was to let go of Eriksen.

The Daily Telegraph also notes the same amount, but their report explains that Tottenham are prepared to receive cut-price bids from European clubs under £50m if the player still isn't sold before the English transfer window closes. This means that United would have to pay more than £50 million to seal a deal.

What's left now is for Spurs and United to agree on a fee, but rumor has it that negotiations aren't as seamless as it should be. However, United are apparently confident that they will seal the deal, but time is short for the club and they would have to double-time to make it before the deadline ends.

Word is that Levy wants to sell Eriksen to a foreign club in order not to give a direct rival more muscle. However, Eriksen has just 12 months left on his deal and has intimated he will not renew, meaning Spurs have little option but to cash in.
