New reports claim that Alexis Sanchez is about to get banished to Manchester United's reserves unless he agrees to move abroad. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant get rid of the £505,000-a-week flop before the European transfer window closes on September 2.
Roma was keen on Sanchez on loan, but the main stumbling block is huge salary, and United may have to share the burden to lay him off. Unless this happens, Old Trafford will have to shell out another 8 million euros in wages until the transfer window on January on a player that Solskjaer doesn't even want.
During Jose Mourinho's reign, Sanchez had become a negative influence behind the scenes too. He was also involved in a furious training-ground bust-up with United kid Mason Greenwood after returning from the Copa America.
According to The Sun , the Chilean reacted angrily to a tackle from the rising star in one of his first sessions back from a hamstring injury.
While it's unknown just how severe the falling out was between Sánchez and Greenwood, it's apparent that Solskjaer is favoring including the teenage forward following his substitute appearance against Chelsea on Sunday.
After Solskjaer took the helm in December, Sanchez, in all of his 16 appearances, managed to score just once. This is reportedly the reason why Solskjaer has not involved the player in his planning for this new season.
The forward has played in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Blackburn Rovers earlier this month, but Solskjaer has admitted his fitness levels are behind the rest of United's squad.
"Alexis has come in and trained well," Solskjaer said last week. "He's four or five weeks behind the boys and has not played apart from the one behind closed doors here, so I think he'll see this as an opportunity as well to make his mark. I do expect him to stay, there's a striker there we think is going to be able to score some goals."
Sanchez having a fall out with United's prospect could result in his end to his time at the club, especially as Solskjaer has been favoring younger players ever since he got in.
Manchester United are still working on building its roster for this season. On Tuesday, reports revealed that midfielder James Garner, who debuted against Crystal Palace last season, has also been "promised playing time in the first team." Updates from the club are yet to be announced in the coming days.
