It was a close match, and Liverpool needed to stretch the game well into extra-time and eventually the penalty in order to take the win. Sadio Mane scored the club's two goals on the 48th and 95th minute. However, the relentless Chelsea squad persevered and eventually leveled the game on the 101st minute via a Jorginho penalty.
The Liverpool defense once again showed its vulnerability, conceding 21 shots with 11 of them right on target. If not for the club's aggressive tactic on the offense, it might have succumbed to Chelsea's patient and relentless attack. Sports analysts have noted that Klopp should find a quick fix to his squad's defense inconsistencies before other clubs start taking advantage of it.
Liverpool will be facing Southampton on Friday. It will go against one of its closest rival, Arsenal, on Sunday.
