Based on some of the club's recent performance and accolades, Liverpool is an easy pick to win a title. While the club does have an explosive offense which is anchored around it brilliant attacking half. However, many sports pundit have criticized the club's defensive half which has shown some inconsistencies. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has acknowledged the issue and said that it genuinely concerns him.

When asked about how he will address the issue, Klopp simply said that the team had "to improve a lot of things." During the first three games of this season, Liverpool has faced 40 shots. This is a great increase compared to last season's total of just 19. This massive jump was pointed out by a number of analysts to Liverpool's somewhat rocky defense. Although the club does have a solid midfield, it gets very tense once the opponent gets past that point.

Liverpool left-back Joe Gomez has this to say about the club's recent performance, "I think there were a lot of things we could have done better on a personal note and as a team. There were a few sloppy moments, and we obviously conceded two goals which could have been prevented."

Liverpool tried to shop for a viable defender during the last transfer window. However, the club was not able to close a deal to acquire a viable defender. Moreover, the club is still fresh from its successful Champions League run so it might affect team mentality if Klopp decides to replace his current roster.

Despite being criticized for its inconsistent defense, Liverpool continues to deliver the goods. The team played against the formidable Chelsea squad on Tuesday. It was a close match, and Liverpool needed to stretch the game well into extra-time and eventually the penalty in order to take the win. Sadio Mane scored the club's two goals on the 48th and 95th minute. However, the relentless Chelsea squad persevered and eventually leveled the game on the 101st minute via a Jorginho penalty.

The Liverpool defense once again showed its vulnerability, conceding 21 shots with 11 of them right on target. If not for the club's aggressive tactic on the offense, it might have succumbed to Chelsea's patient and relentless attack. Sports analysts have noted that Klopp should find a quick fix to his squad's defense inconsistencies before other clubs start taking advantage of it.

Liverpool will be facing Southampton on Friday. It will go against one of its closest rival, Arsenal, on Sunday.
