A lot of people would agree that Apple's products are well polished, built to impress even the most meticulous of smartphone users. And it's got the most stable operating system in the world to boot. But like most things, there's a catch to what's deemed "too good to be true."
It's a well-known fact that Apple's iOS is restrictive. You don't have a lot of options when it comes to customizations, modding, and file management. Some users are okay with this, tinkering with their stock smartphone and all, but for those who want more sophisticated changes, there's a solution.
Enter Chimera Jailbreak, one of the most well-known jailbreaking tools for iOS. And it has been recently updated with support for iOS 12.2, select iOS 12.3 betas and tvOS 12.2. The team behind it, Electra, announced the news via Twitter.
This means that Chimera can now jailbreak more devices, ranging from A9 to A11 devices that run iOS 12.1.3 - 12.2 and all devices on iOS versions between 12.0 and 12.1.2.
The new version is called Chimera 1.2.3 and it's available on chimera.sh. Take note that iOS 12.3 beta 6 is not compatible with the jailbreak, even though earlier betas are. ChimeraTV 1.2.2 is also available on the website, which adds support for tvOS 12.2 on the Apple TV 4k. However, take note that the 1080 Apple TV is only supported up to 12.1.1 jailbreak.
More good news, Unc0ver jailbreak was also updated to version 3.5, meaning it is now capable of jailbreaking iOS 12.4, the latest iOS version. The developer also announced the release on Twitter.
After patching it in iOS 12.3, it appears that Apple accidentally unpatched the Sock Puppet exploit. It's doesn't always happen that a jailbreak would be available for a current and signed version of iOS. So, we'd recommend those interested update to iOS 12.4 and jailbreak as soon as possible. Unfortunately, unc0ver does not currently support the A12 processor found in the iPhone XS, XS Max, and XR for iOS 12.1.3 and up.
You can do a lot of things with your iPhone by jailbreaking and getting access to an alternative app store like Cydia. It gives you a lot of flexibility, including disabling the passcode when you're at home, adding more icons to the dock, running a file manager properly, and change the look of iOS.
But remember that installing the jailbreak will void your Apple warranty, so be sure you're up for that.
