Microsoft today is releasing Windows 10 20H1 Preview Build 18965 to Insiders in the Fast ring. The new update follows build 18963 from last week that saw Search and Virtual Desktop improvements, new GPU temperature section in Task Manager, and more. The company now allows users to have control over restarting apps when signing in, enhancements in Insider feedback, and more improvements in the overall system.
According to Microsoft, the new build will offer users more control when it comes to restarting apps at sign in. "Windows now puts you in control with a new app restart setting. When turned on, Windows automatically saves your restartable apps when signing out, restarting, or shutting down Windows, and restarts the next time you sign in," Microsoft wrote.
For Insiders, there are new updates as well. There's now Search and Feedback Hub updates, as well as changes in the Window Insider Achievements. The tech giant says that achievements are now easier to discover as it has moved the feature to the landing page, previously found on a user's profile page. There are also additional features to allow users to track and categorize their progress.

Something important to remember is that Windows 10 20H1 is an Insider build that will include updates and features that won't probably make it in 2020 Spring. According to Microsoft, 19H2 will serve as a service pack with several new features and will release sometime in September.
In a Preview Build, it's not an assurance that the features included in there will make it to the final release of Windows 10. But if the company decides to include all the features, expect to see it when Microsoft launches its 20H1 update at the start of 2020. That's the same update where Microsoft plans to add a built-in Linux kernel to Windows 10.
Like new updates go, Build 18965 includes its share of stability improvements and bug fixes. A bug that Microsoft took care of particularly is the one wherein some apps weren't able to execute background tasks. Another bug fixed is the one that hides the taskbar when launching the touch keyboard. If you've been experiencing this, then you'd be happy with this new update.
For now, Build 18965 is currently available to Windows Insiders in the fast ring. This is what Microsoft calls the group of people who volunteered to try out the new features added by the company and check out for bugs.
