Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirms he is will willing to sell Alexis Sanchez if a suitable offer emerges, but insists he still has a home with Manchester United. The 30-year-old had been left out in the Premier League this season but Inter Milan remains interested in reuniting him with Romelu Lukaku.
The Serie A giants have until September 2 to register new players, and it is understood the Nerazzurri, now managed by Antonio Conte, were interested in a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer.
Solskjaer admits that Sanchez could still leave Man Utd but insisted he is willing to keep the flop if a suitable bid doesn't come up. The English club is left with three strikers, Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial, and Marcus Rashford, which implies the Norwegian boss needs all the help he could get.
"Alexis is a quality player. We don't have loads of options," Solskjaer said. "If there is an offer that's good enough for the club and him maybe he will go, but if not then he's still our player and he's a quality player."
Inter recently bought Lukaku for £75 million and are looking forward to reunite Sanchez with him. However, FFP rules may require the Italians to offer a loan with an option to make the deal permanent.
If Sanchez leaves United, it would cost them £22 million because of the whopping £505,000 weekly package they previously agreed with the striker.
Peter Schmeichel has rallied for Man Utd to get rid of their flops before the transfer window ends after losing to Crystal Palace. The United legend was seen fuming while watching the match, seeing what he did not expect.
Expressing his frustrations in a tweet, Schmeichel wrote: "There is hope, international transfer window is open for sales until September 2nd."
Sanchez is unfortunately considered a huge flop for United since switching with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. He has scored just three Premier League goals in a season and a half.
From their first three matches, the English club has scored four points, but their gameplay wasn't exactly that impressive. They started off quite strong with a 4-0 win against Chelsea, but Wolverhampton Wanderers more than held their own in a Week 2 draw before Saturday's match.
Manchester United is set to visit Southampton in Week 4. It will be their last match before the Serie A's transfer deadline and the international break.
