OnePlus CEO Pete Lau just confirmed that its upcoming OnePlus 7T would have the 90Hz screen similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro. The 90Hz display was well-liked by users, but in the case of 7T, it will be more affordable.

In an interview with CNET, Lau revealed that the 90Hz will become standard on their premium lineup of phones so that more users can experience the sophisticated technology. Though no confirmation of a launch date emerged, the report says that the device will launch "very soon."

It's a surprising move from the company - releasing a Pro model but costs less than the previous OnePlus 7 Pro model - given it would more likely replace the previous iteration at the same price point. But the company has recently upgraded its smartphones and noticeably, it has started adding the letter T to the device's name. These phones are slightly updated with design changes or processor upgrades.

It is expected that the OnePlus 7T will have a Sept. 26 launch in India. Elsewhere, it will be launched in October, at least according to a leak. As of writing, many are waiting for the official launch believed to take place on Oct. 15.

The 7T arriving with a 90Hz screen is very good news to those watching out for the new flagship, but it is believed that it's the only significant change for the phone. The OnePlus 7T will retain most of the features of the 7 Pro model, such as the pop-up camera and the teardrop notch. Although, it is rumored that the 7T and 7T Pro will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus, which is faster compared to the standard version of the chipset.

Lau has confirmed that the 7T will be much cheaper than the 7 Pro, but it's unlikely for the company to sell a smartphone that's truly cheap.

Lau also confirmed in August that the company is looking at releasing another 5G handset in the fourth quarter of 2019.

We've already seen the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G arrive in a number of countries, including the UK and Finland, but with its next 5G phone OnePlus is aiming to break into more regions, such as North America.

OnePlus won't be the only company to launch more than one 5G-capable device in 2019, as Oppo and Huawei have hinted that they will also release new 5G devices before the year ends. Samsung has also launched the Galaxy Note 10 5G and Galaxy S10 5G.
