Apple's iPhone 11 event was a major success, but the highly rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro failed to make an appearance. The show was packed with one new announcement after another - the highlight of which was the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max - but why didn't Apple include the new MacBook Pro?
For those expecting to the 16-inch MacBook Pro, there's still hope. Apple usually reserves September events for everything but Macs. Aside from new iPhones, the company will make room for Apple TVs, Apple Watches, and iPads, but as Macs go, they usually don't get announced this month.
What Apple does is hold an October event, usually near the end of the month, specially intended for MacBooks. Last year, the company did this for the new Mac mini and MacBook Air, and three years back, the newly redesigned MacBook Pro made its debut.
So, yes. There could still be a 16-inch MacBook Pro, at least according to one outlet. In July, MacRumors cited a report from Economic Daily News that indicated an October 2019 launch for the device.
For the skeptics, here's some more info: Catalina, the newest version of MacOS, will debut in October. We don't know if that will line up with a press event or not, but it at least means Catalina will be up and ready in time for Apple to show off its new hardware.
So far in 2019, a few Macs have emerged. In May, Apple announced an upgraded MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, while the WWDC event paved the way for the introduction of the Mac Pro in June.
If we're talking about stage time, however, no MacBook Pro has ever made it, and it's not since 2011 that the Cupertino tech giant went a whole year without showing off new MacBooks on-stage.
We're betting a Mac-oriented event in October, which will potentially make room for the 16-inch MacBook Pro. After all, Apple hasn't redesigned the device in three years, so it's just proper they do it this year.
For the 16-inch MacBook Pro, a number of features have already been rumored. Among them are the edge-to-edge display and the replacement for the butterfly keyboard that's called the "scissor-switch."
Mac users have been complaining about the butterfly keyboard since its introduction four years ago in the 12-inch MacBook. It's a good thing Apple designed a new keyboard, which will hopefully put a stop to the issues once and for all.
