The search engine giant announced today that it is going to hold a hardware event for the Google Pixel 4. It has already sent invitations to the media for the event that will happen on October 15, 2019, in New York City. Tech enthusiasts and fans are anticipating that aside from the Google Pixel 4 smartphones, the company will also showcase new updated devices like the Google Pixelbook 2, and a new Google Assistant speaker among others.

Google's invitation to the media for its upcoming Google Pixel 4 event reads, "Come see a few new things Made by Google." While the invitation does not reveal much, traditionally, the company used October events to introduce new Google Pixels, Google Home, and Google Nest to the market. The Made by Google brand is what the search engine giant uses for its devices and products that are built in-house.

The Google Pixel 4 was not particularly mentioned in the invitation according to The Verge but the company has made an unusual move of releasing minor details about its upcoming flagship smartphone over the past few months. The search engine giant shared several images of its latest smartphone and even hinted on a new technology that will be utilized for gesture controls. The upcoming launch of the Google Pixel 4 is going to be a big test for the search engine giant.

Chief Financial Officer Ruth Porat during the company's earnings call stated that Google Pixel's sales have declined due to the pressures in the premium smartphone industry. In response to its slump sales, the company released the Google Pixel 3 S last May 2019. And, it seems that the strategic move worked.

Google Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai revealed that Google Pixel sales doubled during the second quarter. The CEO credited the sales bump to its expanded distribution network for the whole Google Pixel lines. Aside from that, Verizon, the Google Store, Spectrum Mobile, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Sprint, and other sellers also contributed to the bump in the Google Pixel sales.

Google Pixel 4 was confirmed in June and was revealed to sport a new design and Face ID. It will also have a wide range of sensors that can sense the user's face to an extra layer of authentication. The upcoming flagship device will be released with hand gesture commands using the company's proprietary Project Soli technology. We will know more about the official specs and features of Google Pixel 4 on October 15, 2019. But, expect a barrage of leaks, rumors, and speculations from today until the date of the Google Pixel 4 event.
