Apple recently unveiled the Apple Watch Series 5 during the By Invitation Only event where the latest iPhone series was also launched. But, it seems that Tim Cook and his team are not the only ones releasing the latest wearables in the market today. Recently, Chinese tech titan Huawei has been hinting on the release of its next-generation wearable dubbed as the Huawei Watch GT2, and if the latest patent filing is accurate, we may now have the specs and features of the upcoming smartwatch from the Chinese company.

Earlier, we have seen leaked images of Huawei Watch GT2 making rounds online. But, a new report from LetsGoDigital gives us a more in-depth look at the upcoming wearable housing the latest Harmony OS software from Huawei. LetsGoDigital recently shared several patent applications filed by the Chinese tech titan which reveal the specs, designs, and features of Huawei Watch GT2.

The patents were submitted to the European Union Intellectual Property Office in Germany and contained the latest face designs of Huawei Watch GT2. The next-generation smartwatch comes in bright and colorful watch faces as well as stylish black and white color combinations. In addition, the patents also show a graphical description of the heart rate monitor, which could be one of the key selling points of the next-generation smartwatch.

A few days ago, the first alleged image of Huawei Watch GT2 surfaced online showing off a couple of different colorways. One model has a sporty appeal with a black rubber watchband. The other image sports a rather customary look with the stainless steel case and brown leather watchband.

Both images reveal a circular display with push buttons and a 24-hour scale carved into the bezels. Additionally, we learned that the Huawei Watch GT2 would be the first smartwatch to run on the company's proprietary operating system, which is the Harmony OS. This software was launched in August and was developed to power almost anything ranging from TV to laptops to smartwatches and smartphones.

Meanwhile, according to WinFuture, the upcoming Huawei Watch GT2 will have a larger battery capacity than its predecessor packing 445 mAH battery cells. The report also highlighted that the next-generation wearable from Huawei will have a microphone and a speaker, which suggests that it might be capable of receiving and making phone calls.

Huawei recently shared a video on the Chinese social media platform Weibo that confirms the official name of its next-generation smartwatch, which is Huawei Watch GT2. It also hinted on a September 19, 2019 release date. This means that Huawei Watch GT2 will most definitely appear alongside Huawei Mate30 in an event to be held in Munich, Germany.

As for the release date, Huawei recently posted a video on Weibo (a Chinese social media platform), that confirms the Watch GT 2 name, and a 19th of September release date. That means it'll appear alongside the Huawei Mate 30 at an event in Munich.
