David Luiz looked awfully frustrated after Arsenal fell a goal behind to Aston Villa. Images of the center-back emerged showing him appearing to blame Matteo Guendouzi for his role in John McGinn, giving the visitors the lead.
When the Brazilian saw Anwar El Ghazi's cross fly over him, he put his hands on his head as McGinn scurried onto the whipped ball to lead it past Bernd Leno straight into Arsenal's net. Luiz couldn't believe what just happened, and proceeded to grill Guendouzi for failing to do his part.
Arsenal's misery worsened when Ainsley Maitland-Niles got himself sent off for another bookable offense. Good thing Guendouzi recovered from his error in the second half. A storming run through the Villa midfield was stopped by a clumsy challenge from Bjorn Engels in the box, with Nicolas Pepe scoring past Tom Heaton from the penalty spot.
However, Jack Grealish managed to glide past some Arsenal players to square for Wesley and again made Villa ahead of the game. Luckily for Arsenal, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Calum Chambers wrapped up the match with late goals earning the Gunners three solid points.
If you ask former Chelsea and Celtic striker Tony Cascarino, however, Luiz is void of the qualities Arsenal manager Unai Emery needs. The Brazilian made a move to the Gunners from Chelsea this summer, which was seen as some as a good move for the English club.
But things don't quite look good for the 32-year-old, whose life in north London started quite dodgy. In four Premier League appearances for Arsenal so far, Luiz has not kept a clean sheet.
Last month, Luiz was criticized for his poor performance when Liverpool beat Chelsea 3-1 at Anfield. He was also blamed on Sunday against Watford as he felled Roberto Pereyra in the penalty box, tainting his already back record for the second time since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium.
Cascarino has been commenting about Arsenal's display at Vicarage Road as they wasted a two-goal lead to draw 2-2, blaming Luiz specifically for his lack of positive influence.
In an interview with The Times, the Irish footballer implied that Luiz was a waste of £8 million.
"Arsenal had no control, no composure," Cascarino said. "They needed to sign a defender this summer, someone who is cool under pressure and has leadership qualities - and they went and spent £8 million on David Luiz, a player who has never embodied any of those qualities."
