Jose Mourinho believes that Liverpool got lucky when they beat Chelsea on Sunday. The Portuguese coach then proceeded to criticize Mohamad Sala for not doing more to help out defensively when the Reds were under pressure late on.

Jurgen Klopp's squad is now in their sixth straight win with a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge, but the match was mostly dominated by Chelsea. Compared to Liverpool's six attempted shots, the Blues made it to 13.

In the closing stages, Chelsea had several openings - most notably when Mason Mount missed a huge change. This led into Mourinho thinking that Liverpool's attackers needed to dig in more.

"The three attacking players play a lot centralized, and then they don't defend too much," Mourinho commented on Sky Sports after the match. "I think in the last 10 to 15 minutes of this game, Salah has to make a bigger effort and has to help a little bit more."

"So when arrives the moment where they need to win ugly, and in this moment they don't have the potential or the freshness to score a third goal, they have to defend really better."

Mourinho says that Liverpool was lucky Chelsea hadn't scored in the last couple of chances, or else, they have no one but themselves to blame.

This season, the Reds managed to stay ahead of Manchester City with a five-point lead. However, Mourinho says this is not a huge gap at all, believing that they will eventually lose a game, similar to how City lost against Norwich.

The former manager of Manchester United predicts that Liverpool will drop a couple of points and will lose to City as Pep Guardiola's squad is also capable of having a run similar to the North England club.

Mourinho, who has been a free agent since he was sacked at Manchester United in December, has said he isn't considering a return to Real Madrid because Zidane is the current manager.

But according to Robbie Dunne of AS, this is Mourinho's strategy to put more pressure on Zidane, given he has been talking a lot to the press about the matter lately.

Liverpool face MK Dons in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.
