The Duchess of Cambridge proved that public figures don’t have to wear different outfits every day as she’s been spotted recycling hers multiple times. Kate seems to want to get the message across that even Royals can be humble and ordinary as well.
Kate Middleton’s recycled outfits are taken well by the public. Unlike in Hollywood, where celebrities are being made fun of when they repeat their clothes, the Duchess of Cambridge got a lot of love from the people and was inspired by her simplicity.
One of those who was inspired was Kate Middleton’s sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. Although she’s been a part of Tinseltown for 15 years, she has learned some new lessons about fashion from Prince William’s wife. Just like Kate, Meghan often reuses favorite pieces from her closet.
Meghan Markle, noticeably, toned down her image during her first royal tour outing this week. The Duchess of Sussex wore a pair of black denim jeans and a J.Crew linen blouse under a jean Jacket from Madewell, which she owned for at least three years.
Meghan Markle then wore a stripe maxi dress, which she recycled from last year when she and Prince Harry went to Australia. She, then, donned a blue shirtdress for an outfit change, which she previously wore during her and the Duke of Sussex’ visit to Tonga in October 2018. The mother-of-one even left her costly wedding ring to keep the casual theme going.
Unfortunately for the Duchess of Sussex, some people are not buying her effort in toning things down. On the online forum site Quora, people discussed Meghan’s toned-down image. One netizen pointed out that it wasn’t a big deal at all.
“How do you know her engagement ring is at home? It could be in her jewelry case,” the royal fan said. “[Low] cost dress… remember Catherine and her $39 off-the-rack dress? As for wearing previously worn dresses, that’s something all the Royals do and have always done.”
