Officially, Sony said that its next-generation console, PlayStation 5, will run on an AMD CPU based on 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. Some game developers who were able to get their hands on the upcoming video gaming console from Sony shared that PS5 has a solid-state drive. Interestingly, the latest patent filing made by the Japanese console maker suggests that the PS5 could have an AI Assistance feature-something that we have never seen in the world of gaming console.

The latest Sony patent application was spotted by eagle-eyed fan ZhugeEx and was shared on his Twitter account. The patent is for a feature called PlayStation Assist, which suggests that the PlayStation 5 could have an AI Assistance with voice help feature. The major claims of the patent listing include a method of delivering gaming assistance composed of receiving information associated with a plurality of game plays of users for a particular gaming app.

Additionally, it can also receive a query from the first player using the gaming app with the query related to the first gameplay of the first player. The PlayStation Assistance could also assist the gamer by generating a response to query and the current game context. More importantly, it can send a response to a device used by the first player.

Essentially, the PlayStation Assist which could bring AI assistance with voice feature to PlayStation 5 will provide a solution that players ask by researching at data elsewhere and then deliver the answer back to the user. It could be one of the highlight features of the PS5 when it launches in 2020. If this is happening, then Sony will be able to introduce something that no other gaming consoles were able to accomplish. With this feature, players who have no idea or get frustrated getting stuck at a particular level of the game could seek the aid of the AI assistant and lookup for a solution.

Sony's lead designer Mark Cerny promised in earlier interviews that the PlayStation 5 will not be a remake or an upgraded version of the PlayStation 4. With several details revealing the unique features of the next-generation console, it seems that Sony is staying true to its promise and intends to offer so much more. It appears that it is not only the ray-tracing capability of the PS5 that gamers should watch out for.

It is worth noting, however, that companies and tech giants like Sony usually file patent applications. At times they push for its development while other times it remains as a patent application. So, this could patent filing could suggest a feature in PlayStation 5 at launch or it could also suggest a future gaming console feature.
