Since last month, speculations and rumors surrounding the release of "Red Dead Redemption 2" on the PC port have been rife. The rumors escalated when eagle-eyed fans spotted a Rockstar Games application of certification for "Bonaire" to the Australian Classifications Board, which later got RCed or was refused classification. Interestingly, a new application for "Red Dead Redemption 2" was recently approved by the ACB, which adds fuel to the fire that this is no less than the PC version of the game.
The Australian Classifications Board gives "Red Dead Redemption 2" an MA +15 rating. The game, originally released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 also got the same rating mainly because of its strong themes, violence, and online interactivity. While the listing on the Australian Classifications Board does not mention that the game is the PC version, it is understandable because the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions already got their respective ratings.
The application was filed by the International Age Rating Coalition on behalf of Rockstar Games last August 20. The application was first denied for no known reasons. It took nearly a month for the game developer to address whatever issue the ACB had with its previous application.
The game developer files different listings for every gaming platform. It was the same when it applied for "GTA 5" where it filed a separate application for its PC rating. Fans believe that the game developer is doing the same thing for the PC version of "Red Dead Redemption 2."
Aside from the "Red Dead Redemption 2" recent certification from the ACB, evidence pointing to the release of the game in PC port is the announcement of Rockstar Launcher. There are speculations that the reason why Rockstar is launching its very own launcher is to have its games exclusively released on the new platform. The game developer refused to make any comments when asked about its plan of releasing exclusive games for its launcher.
In addition to these latest pieces of evidence, a few weeks ago, "Red Dead Redemption 2" fans data mined files that revealed the game's PC settings. While this is in no way a confirmation that the game is releasing on the popular platform, it is an indication that Rockstar Games is doing something to prepare the game for a future release on the PC port. All these rumors surrounding "Red Dead Redemption 2" PC release are mere speculations and should be taken with a barrel of salt and with skepticism.
