Microsoft usually releases a new Windows 10 Insider Preview builds in the Fast ring on Wednesday but now it released an unusual Tuesday afternoon build. The latest 18999 build is now available in the Fast ring. There are interesting features and fixes included in the latest build including the PC user's ability to use their Windows to receive, make, and even reject Android calls.
The Redmond-based tech giant has recently released a Windows 10 update equipped with the ability to answer calls to Android phones on PC. The Windows' Calls feature utilizes the speaker, microphone, and screen of the computer so the user can answer incoming calls, make calls, and even reject calls. The Calls feature was first announced in August during the Samsung Unpacked Event.
This latest Microsoft Windows 10 feature allows users to send incoming calls to the voicemail of Android phones, gain access to the recent call history using PC, and transfer calls between PC and Android phones. For this latest feature to work, users must have an Android phone running on Android 7.0 operating system or higher. The Windows 10 PC must also have a Bluetooth radio and a 19H1 build or newer, plus a minimum of Windows 10 build 18362.356.
Microsoft states that the latest Calls feature will eventually roll out to Windows Insiders on 19H1 builds or newer but may take a few days to be available in the Your Phone app. Additionally, the Redmond-based tech giant warns that in some instances, the Calls feature may necessitate the user to pair the Android phone with PC again. For users who have previously paired their devices, simply unpair them and go through the Calls setup flow once again.
Aside from the latest fixes and features, the latest Microsoft Windows 10 update also warns users of an issue. According to the blog post, older versions of anti-cheat software used with video games where after updating devices to the most recent 19H1 Insider Preview Build could cause PC to crash. According to Microsoft, they are currently working with partners to update their software with a fix, and fortunately, most games have already rolled out updates to prevent PC gamers from experiencing this issue.
The Redmond-based tech giant also noted that in order to minimize experiencing this issue, users are advised to ensure that they are running on the latest version of their games before trying to update their PC's operating system. The company also stated that at present, it is working with game developers and anti-cheat apps developers to resolve issues similar to this.
