Emre Can has expressed his frustration over the lack of game time this season under Maurizio Sarri, putting the midfielder's long-term future at Juventus in question. The former Liverpool star arrived at the Allianz Stadium in 2018 on a free transfer.
Can has only made three substitute Serie A appearances for Juve after being left out of the club's Champions League squad this season. On Wednesday's match, the 25-year-old played the full 90 minutes for Germany national in their 2-2 draw with Argentina.
In a post-game interview, Can admitted he is feeling unhappy with Sarri's pecking order, although he is still hopeful things will take a turn for the better.
"I haven't had a chance this season," Can said. "I'm not happy right now. But now I think, when I come back to the club, I will get chances again.
The 25-year-old made no secret of his anger after the Juventus boss left him out of the Champions League squad this season, admitting he was "shocked" and "furious" by Sarri's decision.
However, Sarri stands by his decision not to include Can and said his omission was necessary, adding he completely understands the midfielder's frustrations. Although, the 60-year-old coach is reportedly planning to include the German international, along with Mario Mandzukic. in an exchange deal for Paul Pogba.
Pogba has publicly addressed his desire to leave Manchester United in the summer but a move to Real Madrid did not materialize, leaving his future in question at Old Trafford.
The French footballer spent four years with Juve, contributing to the club's four Serie A titles, before moving to United in 2016 for a whopping £89 million.
Tuttosport claims that Sarri is heavily interested in signing Pogba, with Juve ready to sell both Can and Mandzukic to the Red Devils. It is not known as of writing if the Italian side would top the offer with cash to get United to accept the offer.
Should the deal between the two clubs finalized, Can would make a good addition in the middle of the pitch, considering Fred and Nemanja Matic have so far been a disappointment to the English club.
It's worth noting that Mandzukic was also left out of Juve's Champions League along with Can, which makes the transfer rumors involving both players more believable.
Can will finally make an appearance on Sunday for Die Mannschaft, when Joachim Low's side face Estonia in a Euro 2020 qualifier. After the international break, Juventus will face Bologna in bid to extend their one-point gap atop the Serie A ladder.
