It was a scene Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would hate to see. Reds keeper David De Gea played for Spain's Euro 2020 qualifier with Sweden on Tuesday but failed to finish the match. He was subbed and walked off in pain, likely suffering an injury.

The United keeper tried to thwart a goal by Sweden but ended up hurt, Metro reported.

"De Gea appearing to tweak a muscle in his leg while clearing the ball in the 60th minute before immediately dropping to the ground in pain. The 28-year-old shot-stopper appeared in some discomfort as he eventually made his way off the pitch alongside two members of Spain's medical staff," the report said.

If true that the Spain international was hurt bad and will need to be sidelined, then it will be another headache for the United boss. Solskjaer is struggling to keep the Red Devils in contention despite the odds working against the English club.

As United is nearing the risk of relegation, the club will need to slug it out with Liverpool, currently the Premier League leader, on Sunday at the Old Trafford. A loss could cost the Norwegian his job, and the likelihood of defeat seems to loom large with De Gea questionable to play.

There is a relief, however, for the Red Devils to fend off Liverpool, which remains unbeaten in the ongoing campaign. Argentine Sergio Romero will need to step up.

"United do at least have a capable backup in the form of Argentina international Sergio Romero. He's performed well in some big games for the Old Trafford club," Bleacher Report described the backup keeper for United.

The same report noted that whoever will watch the net for the Reds against Liverpool, he will need to put a wall of defense that would stop two Liverpool strikers on their tracks. These forwards have been identified as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

In the season so far, the duo has already registered a total of nine goals that served as a testament to their prolific performance so far.

Salah got injured last September but has since returned to training. If reports will prove correct, the Egyptian striker is available to play in the showdown against the Red Devils in the coming weekend.

Truly, Solskjaer has his hands full when Liverpool pays a visit at the Old Trafford, and this was not lost on United supporters who went to social media following the event at Stockholm.

"Manchester United fans look away. David de Gea has been subbed off after appearing to tweak something whilst clearing the ball," one Twitter post said.
