Qualcomm released a couple of new 7xx series chips, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 and 730G. Both chips come with a dedicated AI engine, Spectra 350 image signal processor, and support for WiFi 6. But a new report claims that the company is working on a new chip dubbed as Snapdragon 735.
A new report reveals more fresh details about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 chip. We already know that the Snapdragon 730G is a gaming chip capable of rendering graphics by up to 15 percent faster compared to the SD730. While the specs and features of the SD730 appear interesting, the Snapdragon 735 has reportedly packed a more impressive set of features, including a 7nm node and a 5G radio.
According to the latest report, the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 will be founded on a 7nm process node and will reportedly house an octa-core CPU in two performance cores and six efficiency cores. The six efficiency cores clocked at 1.73 GHz with one core at 2.26 Hz while the high performance one clocks at 2.32 GHz. The two performance cores reportedly will be based on Cortex-A76, while the six efficiency cores will be based on Cortex A-55.
Moreover, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 735, according to the report, will ship with Adreno 620 GPU, an impressive leap from its predecessor housing Adreno 618 GPU. The rumored Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 is on its way to offer flagship-caliber performance in the mid-range setting. It includes support for up to 12 GB of RAM and 4K video capture at 60 FPS.
Additionally, the upcoming chipset is also rumored to sport a dedicated NPU and will be 5G-ready. If the report is accurate, it will make devices a lot more available to the general public. At the moment, one has to spend a hefty amount of money for a 5G-ready smartphone, making it hard to reach for price-conscious consumers.
Based on the recent report, the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 735 is a little better than the Huawei Kirin 7nm 810 although the performance cores of Kirin 810 are clocked at higher clock speeds. Qualcomm is anticipated to launch the Snapdragon 735 at its annual event held in Hawaii in December. The heavily speculated chipset might be available in 2020.
