"Pokemon Go" was a massive hit when it was officially released because it introduced a different kind of gaming experience. Three years after, the game is still alive with a solid fan base, and exciting activities and events regularly rolled out. It is not surprising to know that Niantic's augmented reality game has now achieved a whopping $3 billion in lifetime gross revenue.
Niantic Labs introduced "Pokemon Go" in 2016, and since then, the augmented reality game has been downloaded for roughly 541 million times all over the world. The company nets approximately $5.60 for each download. The game is free to play, but players can spend on in-game purchases like special items and Poke Balls.
In 2016, "Pokemon Go" made around $832.4 million, which was very impressive, considering that it was released in select countries during that time. Three years later, it's amazing that the game is still earning much and grossed around $774.3 million. The figure is less than what the game has earned in 2018, which is around $816.3 million but it's still impressive considering that it is already a few years from when the game was released.
"Pokemon Go" introduced Team Rocket in the game, and many believe that it has played a crucial part in the game's revenue. According to Sensor Tower Stone Intelligence, in August, the same time when Team Rocket was introduced in the game, "Pokemon Go" grossed around $110 million. The US holds the top spot when it comes to user spending, with gamers spending approximately almost $1.1 billion, making up 36.2 percent of the game's overall lifetime revenue.
It is also the country that has the most number of "Pokemon Go" downloads setting a massive 99.3 million distinct installs. In other words, the US holds 18.4 percent of the overall worldwide downloads followed by Japan in the second spot with Japanese players spending roughly $884.5 million. Despite its impressive achievement, Niantic does not seem to slow down in terms of support for the popular and successful augmented reality game.
@Rigpop420 this was popping up on people's pokemon go as they were adding spots for galarian forms that we no about so far and was removed within an hour. I'm not sure if it's real but there were around 10 or so people that were on 4chan claiming that they had seen it. Gen 5 Unova Pokemon are just recently introduced in the game, even the Galarian Pokemon from "Pokemon Sword" and "Pokemon Shield" are reportedly coming to "Pokemon Go." Niantic's "Pokemon Go" can be downloaded from Apple Store and Google Play and playable on Android and iOS devices.
