One of the major highlights of the 2019 NBA offseason was the successful acquisition of the LA Lakers of Anthony Davis from the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers are now becoming a major threat in the Western Conference this season with Davis and James working together. But, even before the deal with the Lakers became official, Davis has publicly stated that he will test the free agency market in the summer of 2020.

Everyone knows that Davis will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent this summer. It appears that Anthony Davis is leaving his door open and entertaining the possibility of playing for his hometown team, the Chicago Bulls. Davis considers Chicago as the mecca of basketball, and based on his statement; there is a chance he might play for the team.

After the Lakers' practice, Davis went to fulfill another obligation that is close to his heart. The All-Star NBA went to Perspectives Charter School and surprised boys and girls basketball team members of his beloved alma mater. During the Q&A portion, Davis was asked if he is open to the idea of playing for the Chicago Bulls.

While Anthony Davis refused to give an official statement on the subject, he noted that he is not closing his doors on the possibility of signing with the Bulls when the free agency period takes place. This is great news for Chicago Bulls and for the fans, which could turn things around for the team who have long been wanting to win back the NBA championship title. Davis playing alongside Wendell Carter Jr, Zach LaVine, Otto Porter Jr, and Lauri Markkanen would mean a major threat in the NBA Eastern Conference.

But, despite Davis' statement, it is hard to imagine that Lakers will let go of Anthony Davis that easily or for Davis to leave James and the rest of the team for the Bulls. Several signs are pointing that Davis might re-sign with the LA Lakers when he becomes a free agent in July 2020. Meanwhile, Davis will return to the United Center for the first time this season as a member of the LA Lakers and will play against the Chicago Bulls.
