Given the Holiday 2020 release window, Sony has a considerably long time to finally unveil its next-generation gaming console, the PlayStation 5. Regardless of the timeline, we have already heard speculations and leaks surrounding the PS5. The freshest is from PushSquare, which hints that Blizzard's "Overwatch 2" and "Diablo 4" will most definitely release on Sony's next-generation gaming console.

The site claims that several indicators from the recent "Diablo" panel at the BlizzCon 2019 hint on the release details of Blizzard's upcoming game. "Diablo" dev-team states that the game is not releasing anytime soon. "Overwatch 2" Director Jeff Kaplan meanwhile shares that the sequel could launch at next year's BlizzCon.

The director coyly says that he has a feeling "Overwatch 2" will be discussed again at BlizzCon 2020. Although these statements do not directly state that "Diablo 4" and "Overwatch 2" are launching on the PlayStation 5, PushSquare finds the coincidence of both game's release window to be a bit too obvious. The site claims that both games are releasing in the late part of 2020, shortly ahead of the release window of the PS5.

Blizzard could say that "Diablo 4" and "Overwatch 2" need more tweaking, and it would take them a long time. But, it is obvious that almost all game developers would want to launch their titles on the next generation gaming consoles, namely Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5. Given the technology and the computing prowess of the upcoming gaming consoles, no developer would turn down the opportunity to reduce lag, improve graphics quality, and design their titles the way they want it.

And these will only be possible if they design their titles based on the specs of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett. Meanwhile, we already know the release window of the PlayStation 5, but rumors are rife online claiming that Sony might launch the gaming console during a special event in February 2020. It would be nice to hear more about the PS5 ahead of its release, and a February 2020 unveiling would be great.

At this point, Sony has maintained the holiday 2020 release window. The Japanese console maker has not yet disclosed the retail price of the PlayStation 5. Several sites, however, are recently reporting that Sony might sacrifice the premium price of the console just to ensure that it gets a massive player base.

Reports say Sony will compromise an affordable launch price just to achieve this. If this is the case, Sony is making a brilliant move considering Microsoft's Xbox Scarlett is also releasing on the same release window. Expect to hear more interesting news about Sony's PlayStation 5 between now and the holiday 2020.
