Fabio Quagliarella, for more than five years, has suffered from tormenting paranoia and secrecy. His beloved home city labeled him a traitor and cast him out while his family was abused in the street. At long last, the 36 years old Italian forward is at peace with his sick stalker finally sent to jail.

The man responsible for turning his life into a living hell was sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment. While there are still emotional scars, a dark chapter of his life finally closed. During those tormenting years, only a few understood why Fabio Quagliarella, Italy's next great superstar has become a Serie A journeyman and why his dreams turned into a nightmare. Raffaele Piccolo, a man Fabio Quagliarella endeared as a friend, is now in jail, the Italian forward has finally got the closure and left Napoli's supporters begging for forgiveness.

The fairy tale story of Fabio Quagliarella swiftly turned sour and his personal life started to fall apart since the stalker began the dreadful anonymous campaign. Napoli easily sold him to Juventus and his supporters loathed him for it. He grew up in Castellammare di Stabia and like any other boy, he dreamed of scoring goals someday at the San Paolo Stadium.

After his successful run at Sampdoria and Udinese, he finally got his dream of playing for Napoli in July 2009. Before he even moved to Napoli, he occasionally received messages at Udinese condemning him of drug use and accusing him of links to the Camorra Mafia. He dismissed this as a nutjob made by mentally unstable fans and part of an occupational hazard.

Fabio Quagliarella mentioned, however, that his messenger account had been hacked while he was talking to his childhood friend Giulio de Riso. Surprisingly, De Riso also got letters accusing him of working for the mafia, he reached out to his friend Raffaele Piccolo, who was at that time working for Naples' postal police and specializing in cybercrime and fraud. De Riso, having been able to receive help from Piccolo introduced him to Fabio Quagliarella.

Piccolo helped the Italian forward and fixed his hacked computer and in return received signed memorabilia for his efforts. Fabio Quagliarella thought that was the end of it but his move to Napoli suddenly spiked the deluge of anonymous threats. Threats continued to escalate in severity, frequency, and in number with his parents opening mail containing pictures of underage girls accusing Fabio Quagliarella of sleeping with them.
