Former First Lady Michelle Obama has raised two beautiful daughters, Sasha and Malia, with President Barack Obama during their time in the White House. Growing up, their children were used to having bodyguards around and lived pretty much a sheltered life but Michelle admitted she has one big fear about her daughters.
Sitting down for an interview with Gayle King, Michelle said that she and her husband worry over Sasha and Malia ending up in gossip column like Page Six. However, Michelle also said that she is confident her girls would not become tabloid fodders knowing that they were raised right by their parents.
Michelle also said that she gives big credit to her mother, Marian Robinson, for helping raise Sasha and Malia. Marian lived with them in the White House in all those eight years and helped the former president and first lady look after their girls when they were busy attending to their stately duties.
The former first lady said that it was always their focus to make sure that the girls will know what they are supposed to do when they are a lot older. Even as kids, the Obama girls were raised as normal as possible and even got to attend sleep overs at their friends' homes, with presidential bodyguards in tow.
Now that Sasha and Malia are both in college, Michelle said that they have empty nesters syndrome at home. She and Barack are welcoming this new phase in their life to rediscover each other as a couple.
Meanwhile, Michelle was recently named the Most Admired Woman of 2019 in a Gallup Poll. Indeed, the former first lady had a rousing year following the release of her memoir "Becoming," which landed on the New York Times Best-Seller.
Michelle and her husband also released their very first documentary series as producers for Netflix. She closed 2019 by going on a humanitarian trip to Asia for the Obama Foundation.
Michelle beat out current First Lady Melania Trump in the Gallup Poll for the second time in a row. According to the results, she was the only woman to receive a double-digit ranking at 10 percent, while Melania was at five percent.
Also in the poll were Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, and teen climate activist Greta Thunberg. Meanwhile, Barack tied with President Donald Trump in the top spot for Most Admired Men. The Gallup Poll sampled over 1,025 Americans above 18 years old via random phone calls.
