Earlier investors' note from various analysts predicted that the Cupertino tech juggernaut Apple is planning to release four new iPhone 12 models this year with the smallest version reportedly featuring a 5.4-inch display. It appears that we are getting more details about this particular iPhone model as early as now, thanks to a new report. If the recent claim is to go by, it seems that we would see a compact iPhone equipped with a powerful hardware setup.
The new set of details about the 5.4-inch Apple iPhone 12 comes from the Japanese site MacOtakara, which details the specific iPhone variant and how it will have the same size as the iPhone 8. The 5.4-inch iPhone 12 model would eliminate the Home button and would instead use the TrueDepth camera system. Since the Home button is no longer there, it makes sense that the display area measures 5.4-inch.
Additionally, it would have a much bigger rear camera than the iPhone 8, the site claims. If the report eventually pans out, it would be the smallest iPhone Apple would offer since the release of the iPhone 8 in 2017. The Japanese site claims that the new set of information comes from Apple suppliers who attended the CES 2020.
Some are currently confused about the details revealed by the Japanese website and easily associated the new set of information to the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9. However, rumors surrounding the compact and affordable iPhone SE 2 claim that the handset will feature a 4.7-inch display like the iPhone 8. Moreover, the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 would sport a Touch ID along with the Home button and thick bezels.
The absence of FaceID on the upcoming iPhone SE 2 seems to suggest that the feature is for the models under the iPhone 12 line up. Apple would launch flagship iPhones with 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch display options in the Fall of this year. According to earlier reports, these iPhone 12 models would feature multi-lens cameras, 5G connectivity, and edge to edge displays.
A JP Morgan analyst claimed that there might be two 6.1-inch iPhone 12 models, which aligns with the prediction of TFI analyst and reputable Apple tipster Minch-Chi Kuo. Other reports claimed that Apple's 2020 Fall line up would be the same as its line up last year. In other words, the iPhone 12 series would be released and multiple price points. The starting price of the iPhone 12 would be around $700, while the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 would retail at $399.
