Meghan Markle is said to be planning to sit down with Ellen DeGeneres for her very first interview post-royal life. The Duchess of Sussex apparently chose the daytime host over Oprah Winfrey.

A source from The Ellen DeGeneres talk show told Daily Mail that Meghan and Ellen have been discussing the interview for quite some time now. The two are really good friends after a chance meeting over two years ago at a dog shelter in Los Angeles.

Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi also visited Prince Harry and Meghan in London soon after the Duchess of Sussex gave birth to Archie Harrison. The daytime host actually shared on her show that she got to meet and even feed the royal baby over the summer.

Daily Mail sources said that Meghan chose Ellen over Oprah for her first interview because of her friendship with the comedienne. Apparently, Meghan feels that Ellen is the one person who could understand her struggles because the comedienne is an empathic person.

This is not to say, however, that Meghan doesn't like Oprah. The media giant has been supportive of the couple from the very beginning. In fact, Prince Harry and the former daytime queen are actually working on a documentary series for Apple TV about mental health. The Duke of Sussex closed this deal even before he and Meghan decided they would be stepping back from their royal duties.

But another source reportedly close to Meghan denied that the Duchess of Sussex will sit down with Ellen for an interview. The source confirmed via People and Entertainment Tonight that these reports of her tell-all are "categorically untrue."

Meanwhile, Oprah's best friend, Gayle King, who is a morning show host, admitted that this interview will be highly sought-after if it does come to play. She said, however, that she personally is not seeking to do the interview because it's up to the couple to decide how and to whom they'll want to tell their story.

Meanwhile, ABC News in the U.S. will air a one-hour show about Prince Harry and Meghan's shift in the royal family. According to New York Post, the program will air on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 10:00 p.m. and it will reflect on how the royal drama came a boil with special guests like Prince Harry's friend, Nacho Figueras, the Queen's governor at Edinburgh, Alastair Bruce, and American aristocrat, Julie Montagu.
