Apple first introduced its first-ever wireless in-ear earbuds in Dec. 2016. It was followed by the AirPods 2 in Mar. 2019, and the AirPods Pro in Oct. 2019. One of the best features of the AirPods Pro is the active noise cancellation blocks out the world outside.

The Active Noise Cancellation feature allows users to focus on what they are listening to. Because of its phenomenal success, many knock-offs recently surfaced. According to a new report, these could be very dangerous to users.

The French magazine 60 Million Consumers recently shared a report revealing the result of the test is conducted with knock-off AirPods from China. It appears that aside from the low price it offers, these knock-offs could also harm its users. Some YouTubers and online influencers are reported 'very appreciative' of these affordable imitations.

These fake AirPods are occasionally promoted by influencers as part of their sponsored content, according to the French magazine. Interestingly, some of these AirPods knock-offs imitate the design of the popular Apple AirPods. Others go beyond the design and even integrates copies of the popular Apple H1 hardware.

To be able to conduct the test, the French site ordered seven pairs of these AirPods knock-offs. Unfortunately, only four of the seven orders arrived. Moreover, and out of the four, only three pairs are functional.

It turns out that the AirPods knock-offs offer mediocre sound quality. Moreover, the site discovered that one model could potentially harm users. It is because its maximum volume goes beyond the standards by 10 decibels.

Knock-offs or imitations do not usually go through the same quality control and security tests that genuine products go through. Because of this, they could go unchecked and could harm unsuspecting users. Although they come at a very affordable price, the harm they could cause is unimaginable.

Apple AirPods retails at $159 while the Apple AirPods Pro is available for $249. Last year alone, Apple's wireless earbuds raked $6 billion in sales. Additionally, Apple wireless earbuds occupy 45 percent of the global market share, putting them at the top of the list.

Meanwhile, customers who placed their orders of Apple AirPods Pro on the company's official website would have to wait a little longer for the stocks to arrive. Since the last quarter of 2019, following the release of Apple AirPods Pro, the demand for the latest wireless earbuds from Apple increased beyond the supply. It resulted in a global stock shortage.

In the US, Apple AirPods Pro orders will arrive in the first week of Feb. 2020. The same goes for other Apple Stores all over the world, including the UK and Australia. But, Feb. is just a few days away, and those who have not placed their AirPods Pro orders must do so before the stocks run out again.
