Lucifer season 5 is coming on Netflix and it was confirmed this would be the final installment of the former Fox series. The streaming giant picked up the Tom Ellis-led series for the fourth season in June 2018 and announced in June 2019 that the fifth installment would be the final one.

As of the moment, the official release date of Lucifer season 5 hasn't been revealed, but it is expected to be released some time in 2020. The final installment will have 16 episodes split into two parts. The first half will likely arrive in summer 2020, while the second half could be towards the end of 2020.

The core cast members are coming back in Lucifer season 5 to reprise their roles for the last time. That means Tom Ellis returns as Lucifer Morningstar and Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker. The relationship between the two becomes one of the most interesting stories within the series' entire run.

Other cast includes Kevin Alejandro as Detective Dan Espinoza, Scarlett Estevez as Trixie Espinoza, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, DB Woodside as Amenadiel, Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez, and Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin.

The fourth installment ended with Lucifer returning to hell, leaving Chloe behind on Earth. The longer he stays on Earth, the more demons would arrive and could turn Earth into hell. Lucifer season 5 might see the titular character going in different directions.

Lucifer might decide to return to Earth, or Chloe could join him in hell. The cast and crew members have been dropping hints as well about what viewers can expect in the final season. For instance, Brandt confirmed her character, Maze, will be taking some new enemies.

Vocal coach Valerie Morehouse also shared Ellis and Brandt will be singing in Lucifer season 5. She posted a photo of herself and Ellis rehearsing on the set, with the latter holding a guitar and seems to be singing. It remains uncertain whether or not the final season will have a musical episode, but showrunner Joe Henderson hasn't ruled it out.

Meanwhile, some of the episode names of Lucifer season 5 have already been revealed. For instance, the first episode is called "Really Sad Devil Guy," directed by Eagle Egilsson and written by Jason Ning. Episode 2 is directed by Sherwin Shilati and written by Ildy Modrovich, titled "Lucifer! Lucifer! Lucifer!"

Just recently, the titles of episodes 12 and 13 have been revealed as well. "Daniel Espinoza: Naked and Afraid" would be the title of episode 12, directed by Greg Beeman and written by Mike Costa. As for episode 13, the title was teased as "*i**** *a****** S*******."
