Earlier this month, Motorola finally released the much-awaited foldable smartphone, Motorola Razr. The unique foldable smartphone that folds and opens like a clamshell retails at $1,499. Today, the South Korean tech and electronics giant unveils the Galaxy Z Flip, which gives the Razr a run for its money.

Motorola Razr vs. Galaxy Z Flip Power

When it comes to internal power, it looks like the Motorola Razr offers mid-range specs. It houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor. The Galaxy Z Flip, on the other hand, runs on a newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, which is found in most Android smartphones in the market today.

In terms of RAM and storage, the Motorola Razr features 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage without storage expansion support. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip features 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. It does not support expansion storage, similar to the Razr.

Battery Life And Display

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip packs 3300 mAh battery life while the Motorola Razr only offers 2510 mAh battery. When it comes to display, the internal screen of the Motorola Razr features a 6.2-inch OLED display with 2142 x 876 pixels resolution. The outer display is a 2.7-inch OLED with a 4:3 aspect ratio and 600 x 800 pixels resolution.

The Samsung Galaxy Z flip, on the other hand, provides a 6.7-inch OLED + FHD display for its internal screen. For its external screen, it offers a 1-inch OLED micro-display. Aside from those, the Galaxy Z Flip offers several modes, including the Flex mode, which allows for hands-free operation.

Camera Specs

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip comes with a 12 MP wide and 12 MP ultra wide rear cameras. In front, it comes with a 10 MP shooter. Meanwhile, the Motorola Razr houses a 16 MP shooter with an f/1.7 aperture. It also comes with a 5 MP selfie camera lens.

Durability

Since foldable smartphones are still at its infancy stage in the industry and given the retail price of this kind of smartphone, most consumers are considering durability and tech as the biggest factors in choosing a foldable smartphone. CNET recently subjected the Motorola Razr to a durability test. Unfortunately, the hinge of the Razr broke after 27,000 folds. Samsung, on the other hand, has delayed the release of its first-ever foldable smartphone last year because of the screen and hinge issues. However, the South Korean tech giant promises this time that the Galaxy Z Flip is robust enough to withstand 200,000 times folding and unfolding.

Price

The Motorola Razr is exclusively available on Verizon at retails at $1,499. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip will be available on Feb. 14 and will retail at $1,380.
