It looks like the legal drama between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp is still far from over. Although the former couple had already settled their previous legal battle, the Pirates of the Caribbean star has filed another lawsuit against his ex-wife after she printed an op-ed suggesting she was a domestic violence survivor. Interestingly, Depp's latest evidence includes a shocking audio tape where Heard was recorded taunting her former partner. Not surprisingly, the tape has led to more people signing a petition asking for Heard to be removed from Aquaman 2 and it has now gathered more than 300,000 signatures.
Back in 2016, Amber Heard filed for divorce, claiming that Johnny Depp was verbally and physically abusive to her during the marriage. Although it proved to be a messy affair, the two reached a settlement that should have ended the whole drama. However, things changed when Heard published an op-ed on The Washington Post in 2018. In her piece, the Her Smell actress reportedly portrayed herself as a survivor of domestic abuse. Although Depp's name was not mentioned in the editorial, the Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald actor decided to sue Heard for $50 million for defamation.
At first, it seemed like the lawsuit would be going nowhere. Interestingly, new evidence against Amber Heard have surfaced and it could confirm that she is the one who has been abusing Johnny Depp during their marriage. One of the leaks is an audio clip where Heard blatantly admits to hitting her ex-husband. In addition to that, she taunts Depp about admitting that he is a victim of domestic abuse, saying that "It's a fair fight" and he should "see how many people believe or side with you."
It's a truly shocking revelation that has caused people to change their opinion about Amber Heard. Not surprisingly, Johnny Depp fans are now gathering in numbers and looking for a way to get the actress removed from her upcoming projects. This includes a huge petition on Change.org calling on Warner Bros. to replace Heard with a different actress in Aquaman 2.
The petition reveals that Johnny Depp is not Amber Heard's only victim and that she has previously abused a different partner. Although the petition had previously gained about 100,000 signatures, more people have started signing after the audio leak.
For now, it is unclear if Warner Bros. will consider replacing Amber Heard as Mera. Aquaman 2 is scheduled for release on December 16, 2022.
