The South Korean tech and electronics giant recently held its Unpacked event. During the event, Samsung officially introduced its flagship smartphone series-the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20 Plus, and Galaxy S20 Ultra. In this article, we compare and contrast Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and Galaxy S20 Ultra against Apple's iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus vs. Galaxy S20 Ultra vs. iPhone 11 Pro Max: Photography

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus features four sensors on the back and a single shooter in front. The rear camera array is consists of three shooters and a time of flight sensor. Its telephoto lens is turned on the side and uses a mirror to enable more distance between the sensor and the lens, as evaluated by Apple Insider. The site says that this allows the camera to achieve a 3x optical zoom at 64 MP.

Its wide-angle and ultra-wide lens are almost the same as that found in iPhone 11 Pro Max, which are also 12 MP. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus boasts its 8K video capability and its ability to allow users to use Super Resolution Zoom and achieve up to 30x zoom. Similar to iPhone 11 Pro Max, which achieves the 10x zoom through 5x crop and 2x optical zoom, the Galaxy S20 Plus uses a 10x digital crop and 3x optical zoom.

But, while both Galaxy S20 Plus and iPhone 11 Pro Max are almost comparable, the Galaxy S20 Ultra takes the competition to a different notch. It's ultra wide angle lens is a whopping 108 MP, but considering that it utilizes a 9 to 1 pixel binning ratio, users get a 12 MP photo with more details and better lighting. Its front-facing camera has a massive spec bump using 4 to 1 pixel binning. It has a 40 MP sensor, takes 10 MP selfies, and capable of recording 4K videos.

Wireless Network Connectivity

The iPhone 11 Pro Max only supports 4G LTE connectivity. The device was launched in Sept last year-a time when 5G is not yet widespread even in the US. Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus and the Galaxy S20 Ultra both feature 5G connectivity support.

Both Samsung flagship smartphone variants support mmWave and sub-6GHz signals. In other words, both the Galaxy S20 Plus and the Galaxy S20 Ultra could support any kind of 5G network connectivity available in the area.

Other Details

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is available for only $1,099. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus retails at $1,19, while the Galaxy S20 Ultra is available for $1,399.
