Could Prince Philip be around to see his granddaughter Princess Beatrice exchange vows with her fiancé Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi? Royal experts are wondering if the Duke of Edinburgh will be up for facing the public given his health condition.

According to Daily Express, Prince Philip is believed to be in "poor health" following his hospital confinement in December 2019. The Duke of Edinburgh is also turning 99 on June 10 or just days after Princess Beatrice and Edo's wedding.

Royal expert Angela Mollard speculated that it's highly possible for Prince Philip to skip Princess Beatrice's weddingbecause of his health issues. However, another royal expert, Richard Fitzwilliams, said that the Duke of Edinburgh would love to be at the royal wedding if his health would allow.

In 2018, Prince Philip was at the wedding of Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice's younger sister, to Jack Brooksbank. It was one of the very few public events that the Duke was present for since it's a special time for the family.

The Duke of Edinburgh resigned from his royal duties in 2017 due to his old age. He's been staying at his estate in Sandringham in his retirement years.

However, since then, Queen Elizabeth's husband was admitted to the hospital for treatment on a pre-existing condition. Buckingham Palace won't reveal the details to his treatment but the duke was able to join the royal family for their annual Christmas in Sandringham under strict observations from medical professionals.

Meanwhile, sources close to Princess Beatrice revealed that the York royal would have wanted to have her wedding in Edo's Italian hometown. The princess wanted to do away with a traditional royal wedding which she knows would be under immense media scrutiny.

But Princess Beatrice apparently changed her mind and decided to have the wedding in London precisely so that Prince Philip and the Queen could be present. Given their old age, Princess Beatrice didn't want to burden her grandparents with the stress of traveling to Italy.

Princess Beatrice will be tying the knot at a very hush-hush and untelevised ceremony at The Chapel inside St. James's Palace. The venue is quite small for the usual royal wedding since it could only accommodate 150 people.

For the reception, the York royal and her future husband will be hosted at the Buckingham Palace gardens as their gift from Queen Elizabeth. Her wedding is the second since 2011 to be celebrated in the Queen's official residence.
