The coronavirus situation in China is seeing another surge, but not in locally-transmitted CoVID-19 cases. Instead, the spike in new cases are imported ones. Other Asian countries are also seeing continuous surges in new confirmed cases.

China Reports 45 Imported Cases

On Sunday morning, China reported 46 new coronavirus cases. However, only one of the said cases was locally transmitted, Reuters reported. The rest are all imported cases, the National Health Commission revealed.

The pattern of new cases on Sunday was very similar to the day earlier, when China reported 41 new CoVID-19 cases, all of which were not local transmissions.

The surge in cases from outside the country came after China reported zero domestically-transmitted cases for three days straight. Wuhan, the CoVID-19 strain's origin city, has started recovering for at least a week.

Experts Raise Questions on Japan's Testing Measures

Experts have cast doubts on Japan's coronavirus testing measures even if the country has been ramping up testing around the country.

Some experts noted that several government bodies appear to be hesitant in implementing faster and stricter measures that should help control Japan's coronavirus outbreak unless an employee or staff member is found infected with the CoVID-19 strain.

Health professionals said it is best to implement the necessary measures even before an employee tests positive of the novel coronavirus since there are asymptomatic patients who may not be aware they are carriers.

South Korea Ramps Up Testing on Europe Arrivals

On Sunday, the South Korean government ordered tests for all Europe arrivals. According to Yonhap News, even passengers who test negative will be required to undergo a two-week self-quarantine if they are from Europe.

For Sunday's arrival, it is expected that around 8,510 people will arrive from about, with at least 1,000 of the said travelers coming from European countries.

The strict measures on European arrivals came as Italy continues to see a devastating spike in deaths and new coronavirus cases. South Korea now has a total of 8,897 confirmed CoVID-19 cases.

North Korea Cancels Festivals

North Korea has started suspending upcoming big festivals amid fears of CoVID-19 community spreading in the country.

State media reported on Saturday that the April Spring Friendship Art Festival will be canceled due to the ongoing outbreaks around the world. The said event was supposed to be hosted by Pyongyang.

Before the art festival's cancelation, the North Korean government already canceled a marathon event, also in Pyongyang, that usually runs every year. The event was initially set for April 12.

Australia Records Over 200 New Cases in One Day

On Sunday, Australia reported 213 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country's total to 1,316.

According to The Guardian, the new cases were recorded over the last 24 hours, marking an uptick in the spread of the novel virus in several states, including a spike in Victoria and Western Australia.

Health authorities revealed a spike in new cases in New South Wales has been linked to the Ruby Princess cruise ship that docked at the Circular Quay. Some of the clusters were also linked to some Bondi backpacking gatherings.
