Prince William has so much adoration for his in-laws, the Middletons. According to royal experts, the Duke of Cambridge made sure that they were never sidelined when he married Kate Middleton in 2011.
According to royal experts, Prince William exerted efforts to make Kate feel as comfortable as possible when she became part of the royal family by marriage. Thus, Prince William was careful not to isolate or exclude the Middletons from their life because, apparently, he didn't want to make the same mistakes as the royals did with his mother Princess Diana.
"I just don't think William was going to take any chances," royal expert Katie Nicholl said. "He adores the Middletons - he has a very close relationship with Michael and with Carole, so he also did not want them to be sidelined as soon as Kate married into the family."
Apparently, making sure not to isolate Kate as she becomes a royal family member was also a concern for Buckingham Palace that they also had to ensure her family was still involve in their personal lives and the lives of their children. Thus, Kate was able to maintain her family connections, and even her siblings, Pippa and James, are included in some royal family events.
As a result, Kate has grown into this confident public figure who will complement Prince William's future role as the monarch. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's marriage was made stronger because the Middletons were never sidelined.
In the past, royal spouses used to complain about their roles once they become members of the British royal family. It was no secret that Prince Philip used to resent that he was made to give up a lot of things because his wife was the monarch.
The Duke of Edinburgh apparently had dreams of serving the Navy with a long career. However, this was cut short when his wife, then Princess Elizabeth, had to ascend the throne after her father's untimely passing.
"I thought I was going to have a career in the Navy, but it became obvious there was no hope," Prince Philip said in an old interview. "You have to make compromises. That's life. I accepted it. I tried to make the best of it."
Princess Diana also used to say that she was not given a voice nor wasn't listened to within the royal family. Prince William's parents had problems in their marriage but many royal experts said that she never adjusted to the royal life too well and thus felt that she didn't fit in.
