Tom Cruise is one of the Hollywood stars whose popularity never fades even if he gets involved in several controversies. He remains well connected in the industry that is why his name has always been linked to other celebrities and supposedly helping others to land acting jobs.
Back in November 2019, Star claimed Cruise was eyeing Joaquin Phoenix as the new villain in his next Mission: Impossible movie. At the same time, The Mummy actor is also, allegedly, recruiting Phoenix for the Church of Scientology.
Gossip Cop debunked the story, saying the tabloid was just trying to take advantage of the success of Phoenix's recent film Joker. The outlet added Joaquin will be the last person that Cruise could recruit to join a shady organization.
This is because in reality, Phoenix was born into the cult organization Children of God in Venezuela. His parents decided to leave the group, and their family returned to the U.S. in 1977 when Phoenix was three years old.
The Gladiator actor has since publicly stated that he avoids organized religion of all kinds. He clearly doesn't have great memories with the organization he grew up with and this is enough evidence that he is also unlikely to be recruited for Scientology.
Another celebrity that Cruise is allegedly helping out is Meghan Markle. Earlier this year, New Idea claimed Meghan had met with Cruise to plan for her Hollywood comeback. The tabloid used a photoshopped image of Tom and Meghan walking together in its cover.
Then a couple of months later, Life & Style published a similar story. It claimed that Cruise was trying to get Markle to co-star in his next movie. A source of the tabloid claimed there is no better way for the Duchess of Cambridge to make a comeback in acting than to appear in the big screen with one of the sought-after actors in Hollywood.
The most recent claim that Tom has been helping other celebrities to get jobs appeared in the National Enquirer. The tabloid claimed Gwyneth Paltrow wanted to team up with Cruise to make her Hollywood comeback.
Gossip Cop debunked the tabloids' claims about Meghan and Gwyneth upon reaching out to a source close to the stars. The outlet pointed out that there is no evidence proving that Cruise and the Suits actress knew each other or had met to plan out the latter's comeback. As for Paltrow, the actress' spokesperson denied that Gwyeneth will be working with Cruise for her comeback.
