Jun 2020 is looking to be one of the most exciting months for the gaming industry if recent rumors are to go by. Earlier several industry insiders claimed that Sony is preparing to hold a PS5 digital event on Jun 3. Interestingly, a new report claims that at the said event, a new "Star Wars" title would launch, and it could be the long-rumored "Star Wars: Maverick."

The latest news of a possible launching of "Star Wars: Project Maverick" comes from Cinelinx Chief Editor and popular "Star Wars" Insider Jordan Maison. On Twitter the industry insider shared a tweet reminding the industry that EA Motive is developing a "Star Wars" title that was not yet announced. Later, he shared another tweet suggesting fans of the franchise to watch out for the possible launch of the said title.

While Maison does not reveal any details about "Star Wars: Project Maverick," it is easy to assume that an announcement of such caliber should also be held at an equally grand event. Interestingly, the event falling on that same date is the rumored digital event dubbed as the PS5 games reveal. If this is the case, it also means that the upcoming "Star Wars" title is releasing on Sony's next generation gaming console.

On Reddit, a user named GreggThornThree shared a collection of details from Venture Beat's Jeff Grubb and industry expert Jason Schreier that seemed to confirm "Star Wars: Project Maverick" might be launched next week. Schreier also posted a tweet earlier teasing that someone is ready to announce a game, sharing a tweet from Motive Montreal. In Feb 2020, the former Kotaku editor shared an article revealing that EA canceled a spin-off title last year.

Rumors about "Star Wars: Project Maverick" are scarce online. It was only in Mar 2020 when fans saw leaks about the game. Jeff Grubb and Jason Schreier are reputable industry insiders with proven track records in revealing information about upcoming titles and events in the gaming landscape. However, it is worth mentioning that while these details are exciting, these are not official.

In this case, take this information with a pinch of salt. Earlier reports suggested that Sony is planning to reveal some of the upcoming PS5 titles at its rumored event in June. Apart from "Star Wars: Project Maverick," a lot of AAA games are anticipated to be announced at the said digital event.
