The Cupertino-based tech titan Apple is reportedly planning to launch a trade-in program for Mac at its retail stores across the US and Canada, according to a new report. The said program would enable customers to trade their older Mac and get credit for their next purchase. The new in-store trade-in program would reportedly start in Jun 2020.
The latest report about the Mac trade-in program of Apple in its retail stores across the US and Canada comes from Bloomberg. The publication claimed that the program would commence on Jun 15, 2020, in the US and Jun 18 in Canada. Aside from getting the trade-in value of their old Macs, customers have the option to cash out the value for an Apple gift card.
Tech enthusiasts believe that Apple's latest Mac trade-in program could be a part of its aggressive campaign to boost the sales of its Mac devices. The Cupertino tech giant has an ongoing Mac trade-in program, but it was previously available on its website and not on Apple retail stores. With the new Mac in-store trade-in program, Apple is making it easier for customers to trade their Macs without the hassle of doing it by mail.
Additionally, owners could instantly get the credit when making an in-store purchase. Nevertheless, because of the present global health crisis, it would take some time for this new Mac trade-in program to take off. Currently, multiple Apple Stores in the US and Canada are still closed. Other Apple Stores that are open only offer limited services.
In Apple's 2019 fiscal report, Mac sales generated approximately $25.7 billion. It is around 10% of the total annual revenue of the Cupertino tech juggernaut. Earlier, Bloomberg shared that Apple is planning to launch a new installment payment program for iPad, Mac, AirPods, and HomePod through Apple Card. According to the publication, Apple Card holders could soon use their premium card to finance purchases of these products.
The upcoming Apple Card program would allow consumers to purchase Mac and iPad with 0% interest. Mac and iPad line ups would be available on a 12-month 0% payment plan. Other products included in the Apple Card payment plan are Apple Pencil, Apple Pro XDR Display, and Apple TV. These products would be available for six months, 0% interest payment plan.
The latest news about the upcoming Apple Card payment plan in exciting as it would make purchasing Apple products so much easier. However, it is not yet official, and the report has not revealed when this new payment program would start.
