Prince Charles is happy to learn that many people in the U.K. are going back to basics and growing their own food. The Prince of Wales have been pushing for people to produce their own crops amid the coronavirus crisis.

In the radio show Farming Today, Prince Charles talked about how the pandemic might have encouraged people to reconsider how they gather supplies to feed themselves and their family. He said that amid the very dark clouds brought on by the health crisis in the last three months, there's a silver lining as people have been growing their own vegetable garden in their backyard or homes, regardless of the space.

Prince Charles said that early on, food shortage was going to be an issue in the pandemic. But he was happy to hear that sales of vegetable seeds and other garden tools -- such as allotments and window boxes for people to grow crops -- were an all-time high. The Prince of Wales said that this reminded him of stories from the Second World War, when people tried to live a more sustainable life by growing their own food.

The heir to the throne, who relishes in farming himself, has been a passionate campaigner for the green life. In April, after he recovered from coronavirus, Prince Charles urged the public to put nature at the center of their lives and limit the destruction of the earth's resources. The Prince of Wales also called for restoring the earth's biodiversity and for reforestation.

Meanwhile, there's also another good news for the Prince of Wales this week. His current financial earnings show that his Duchy of Cornwall had an increase in profits for June 2019 to June 2020.

His record keeper, Alastair Martin, however, said that the scenario could be different next year because the Duchy of Cornwall also suffered from the shutdown of business during the months of lockdown. Prince Charles also kept paying his workers and staff despite the closure of businesses in the area.

The Duchy of Cornwall also didn't avail of the government's help for businesses to thrive despite the pandemic. Rent payments in Cornwall was temporarily suspended as well to help the rest get their life back on track.

This is where Prince Charles earns a private income that continues to fund for his lifestyle and his son's families. Prince Harry and Meghan reportedly receive part of the money from the Duchy of Cornwall for their security cost in the U.S.
